Can a Christian have a Demon

Can a Christian have a demon? When I began searching the Word of God about the matter of demons oppressing Christians, I discovered that the issue is not as conclusive as I had once

thought. It seems Christians are open to sickness, disease, and evil in every why as the nonbeliever. I erroneously thought the Holy Spirit and an evil spirit could not dwell in the same vessel, that light and darkness cannot coexist. The simple truth is that Satan cannot invade the spirit of the believer, but can surely “demonize”, afflict and in some cases possess his body and mind; otherwise, the admonition to put on the whole armor of God would make little sense.

We are composed of three parts: a body, a mind (soul) and a spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The spirit of a Christian belongs to God, and their spirit is united with the Holy Spirit, but their bodies and minds (souls) can still be afflicted, “demonized”, or even possessed by evil spirits. Think in terms of a glass of water. An evil spirit can possess the glass of water, but never own or be inside of it, hence our spirits are safe it is our souls and bodies that come under attack and need devils cast out of them.

Demons can, in some cases, even take over a Christian’s mind and speak through his lips (Matthew 16:22). I have seen demons control the psycho-motor functions of Christians, even putting them in a trance like state to speak through them.
