Can a Christian have a demon? When I began searching the Word of God about the matter of Christians being “demonized”, afflicted, or even the devil perhaps possessing  Christians, I discovered that the issue is not as conclusive as I had once thought. It seems Christians are open to sickness, disease, and evil in every why as the nonbeliever. I erroneously thought the Holy Spirit and an evil spirit could not dwell in the

same vessel, that light and darkness cannot coexist. The simple truth is that Satan cannot invade the spirit of the believer, but can surely “demonize” his body and mind; otherwise, the admonition to put on the whole armor of God would make little sense. We therefore, believe in casting out demons from the body of the Christian.

We are composed of three parts: a body, a mind (soul) and a spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The spirit of a Christian belongs to God, and their spirit is united with the Holy Spirit, but their bodies and minds (souls) can still be afflicted by evil spirits. Demons can, in some cases, even take over a Christian’s mind and speak through his lips (Matthew 16:22). I have seen demons control the psycho-motor functions of Christians, even putting them in a trance like state to speak through them.

We are a triune being – BODY, SOUL and SPIRIT. Your SOUL is your MIND, WILL and EMOTIONS.

BODY – Christians can have a sickness and disease that’s caused by demons (if not caused by other factors).

SOUL – Do you have a bad temper? That’s a demon. Is there mental illness in your family background? That is a demon. Do you have trouble serving God? That’s a demon. Do you have problems with bad thoughts? That is a demon(s) in your mind, or soul and needs to be cast out.

SPIRIT – Demons can surround your “Born Again” spirit like a glass jar surrounds its contents. The contents of the jar cannot get out until you remove the lid (demons). Deliverance can get rid of the demons. We cast them out of you in the name of Jesus.
